Photo month 2011 at the East London International Photography Festival got underway this Saturday (1st Oct) with more than 100 galleries and venues exhibiting work by established and emerging photographers. How far the wondrous art of photography has come since that intelligent French chap, Joseph Nicephore Niepce, took the first permanent photograph all the way back in 1826. Look at us now, as Dylan Moran says, "It seems like everything is a camera now-a-days." But it's all the better for capturing the beauty that is all around us. So grab the SLR and let the lens flutter madly with our pick of a world of photographic opportunity. Too many to mention.
