Chris Cox is a mind reader who can’t read minds, not only that but according to The Guardian he is ‘one of the most exciting entertainers in Britain’ , Time Out thinks, ‘he does tricks that would make Jesus proud… Loveable, geeky & deceptively talented,’ they’re not alone, The Times think he’s ‘stunning’ and ‘leaves other magicians scratching their heads.’ Chris agrees with all these things but also likes to think he’s far too modest to make them the first things people read about him.

He is a unique force when it comes to mind-reading entertainment. Chris already has a string of accolades under his belt including 5 Edinburgh Fringe shows, 2 UK Tours, 3 West End Shows, an extended & sell out run at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, a bloody big heap of 4 and 5 star reviews, 2 Edinburgh Fringe Awards, 2007/08/09 sell out shows, must see show listings and numerous TV and Radio appearances. All that and he’s still in his early 20s. Phew! What a busy boy.

The self proclaimed mind reader who can’t read minds is an accomplished and much loved performer, using a mongrel hybrid mix of witty chit chat, magic, psychology, body language, influencing, devilish good looks… and lying, to make you think he knows what you’re thinking, despite never knowing what you are thinking, or being able to really do anything he says.

He’s popped up doing tricks on BBC Radio 1, has been on your screens on The Mentalist Revealed (C5), Dick & Dom’s Funny Business (BBC 2) and Little Howard’s Big Question (BBC 1) not only that but he’s also part of the Bafta nominated team as the man who brought magic to bbc.co.uk’s Merlin.

You also might have seen Chris along side Frank Skinner in his Credit Crunch Cabaret at the 1000 seater Lyric Theatre in the West End or performing in front of 2500 people in the theatre and hundreds of thousands at home on TV3 in New Zealand. But the latter is only likely if you were in New Zealand at the time.

Ricky Gervais said Chris is, ‘Brilliant, he’ll blow your mind’ and he is never wrong. Other celebrity fans of Cox include Dannii Minogue, Kelly Osbourne, Agyness Deyn and Tim Minchin.

In the Spring of 2010 Star magazine had a list of what’s hot. Chris came in at number 2, above Gossip Girl but behind Diet Coke. However Chris doesn’t like to talk about it… And thinks Pepsi is better anyway.

I'm off on tour to New Zealand with my show Fatal Distraction for three-weeks, yes I know, lucky me. Before that I've got a few days in LA doing some filming, again, lucky me. You might think that, but actually I'm not so lucky, as I have got to pack,...

Theatre Interview - Jackie Clune in Mogadishu

Back in 2010 there were two plays, which got me talking more than anything else on the stage. The first was the much loved Jerusalem, with Mark Rylance's phenomenal performance, the second, Mogadishu written by ex teacher Vivienne Franzmann was one of the most powerful and impactful shows to hit...

Review: Abigail's Party

0 Comments | Posted 11 March 2012 | 16:01

Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party is an iconic play which has a home in the hearts of many thanks to it's 1977 Hampstead Theatre production and subsequent BBC airing. If you knew it then, you'll still love it now, but what for a young whippersnapper like me, who wasn't even alive...

Review: Hans Klok - The Houdini Experience

0 Comments | Posted 28 February 2012 | 23:35

Earlier this month I got to sit down with master illusionist, his words not mine, Hans Klok for a little chat about his new show The Houdini Experience. I am an award winning (and highly modest) mind-reader who can't read minds, whose always loved magic, but illusions, just haven't excited...

Sex With A Stranger is the third play from writer Stefan Golaszewski. His previous two shows were one man pieces looking at love and relationships, the first of which, Stefan Golaszewski Speaks About A Girl He Once Loved, launched him sensationally onto the scene. It showed he had an incredible...

Magic is back, although it never really went away, it's always lingered like a bad smell. However over the last few years magicians have been trying to refresh that smell into something more enjoyable, palatable and modern. Penn & Teller's Fool Us and The Magicians have joined Derren Brown on...

Theatre Review - Pippin at the Menier Chocolate Factory

0 Comments | Posted 29 January 2012 | 18:23

Back in 1972 Stephen Schwartz, the man behind every teenage girl's musical delight Wicked, teamed up with Bob Fosse to create Pippin, a show that ran for just under 2000 performances. Cabaret, Grease and A Chorus Line were around at the same time and have recently had hugely successful revivals,...

They say the American TV system is slow and works differently to the UK, and you know what? They're right. About 18 months ago I was asked to make a presentation pilot for an American TV channel. This week, I finally filmed it. I'll tell you what - it was...

An open letter to reviewers and editors at the Edinburgh Fringe.

As the Edinburgh Fringe heads into its final week, it gives performers some time to reflect on the weeks that have passed - and one thing none of us can stop talking about is reviews. After some good...

Well That Seems To Be Going Well (So Far)

0 Comments | Posted 8 August 2011 | 17:19

Well this is a bit odd. We're properly into the Edinburgh Fringe now and everything seems to be going a'okay. Sure I realise by saying this it'll all go tits up from here on in, but that's to be expected. What I always find weird is how variable audience numbers...

1 Down. 25 To Go

0 Comments | Posted 4 August 2011 | 11:37

The Edinburgh Fringe is in full swing, flyers are being handed out, tourists are looking confused at student groups in all in one lycra bodysuits running down the Royal Mile and I am fretting about my show. All normal stuff then.

The first show is always a bit of an...

Here We Go Again

Monday morning. 8am. I'm on the train out of Kings Cross. I resisted the urge to get on a platform 9 & 3/4 and instead took the normal train to Edinburgh rather than the Hogwarts Express. As I look out the window I can see London looming into life, I've...
