Chris Cox
GET UPDATES FROM Chris Cox

Chris Cox is a mind reader who can’t read minds, not only that but according to The Guardian he is ‘one of the most exciting entertainers in Britain’ , Time Out thinks, ‘he does tricks that would make Jesus proud… Loveable, geeky & deceptively talented,’ they’re not alone, The Times think he’s ‘stunning’ and ‘leaves other magicians scratching their heads.’ Chris agrees with all these things but also likes to think he’s far too modest to make them the first things people read about him.

Chris doesn't just perform in theatres, he is an ardent theatre goer, regularly writing about and reviewing theatre. Chris is never happier than when sat in a theatre. Having first performed alongside Sir Harry Seacombe at The Bristol Hippodrome at the age of 11, he has a degree from Bristol University in Drama and will often be seen sat in the stalls.

He is a unique force when it comes to mind-reading entertainment. Chris already has a string of accolades under his belt including 5 Edinburgh Fringe shows, 2 UK Tours, 3 West End Shows, an extended & sell out run at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, a bloody big heap of 4 and 5 star reviews, 2 Edinburgh Fringe Awards, 2007/08/09 sell out shows, must see show listings and numerous TV and Radio appearances. All that and he’s still in his early 20s. Phew! What a busy boy.

The self proclaimed mind reader who can’t read minds is an accomplished and much loved performer, using a mongrel hybrid mix of witty chit chat, magic, psychology, body language, influencing, devilish good looks… and lying, to make you think he knows what you’re thinking, despite never knowing what you are thinking, or being able to really do anything he says.

He’s popped up doing tricks on BBC Radio 1, has been on your screens on The Mentalist Revealed (C5), Dick & Dom’s Funny Business (BBC 2) and Little Howard’s Big Question (BBC 1) not only that but he’s also part of the Bafta nominated team as the man who brought magic to bbc.co.uk’s Merlin.

You also might have seen Chris along side Frank Skinner in his Credit Crunch Cabaret at the 1000 seater Lyric Theatre in the West End or performing in front of 2500 people in the theatre and hundreds of thousands at home on TV3 in New Zealand. But the latter is only likely if you were in New Zealand at the time.

Ricky Gervais said Chris is, ‘Brilliant, he’ll blow your mind’ and he is never wrong. Other celebrity fans of Cox include Dannii Minogue, Kelly Osbourne, Agyness Deyn and Tim Minchin.

In the Spring of 2010 Star magazine had a list of what’s hot. Chris came in at number 2, above Gossip Girl but behind Diet Coke. However Chris doesn’t like to talk about it… And thinks Pepsi is better anyway.

Stealing Magic

Magic. It's a bloody good thing. Of course it doesn't exist, it's not real, but for hundreds of years magicians, such as myself, have taken to the stage in an attempt to convince people that the impossible can become possible and that magic might really exist... and in a way,...

In the days leading up to a show, I spend a lot of my time making sure I'm show ready. I'm probably in the minority of comedy acts that do this, but then again I'm not 'just' a comedy act, some people would say I'm not even a comedy act,...

Back in 2010 there were two plays, which got me talking more than anything else on the stage. Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party is an iconic play which has a home in the hearts of many thanks to it's 1977 Hampstead Theatre production and subsequent BBC airing. If you knew it then, you'll still love it now, but what for a young whippersnapper like me, who wasn't even alive...
