Damian was elected as the MP for East Hampshire on May 6th 2010.In June he was elected onto the Education Select Committee responsible for scrutinising Government policy on education. Damian believes that education is the key to success for the individual, society as a whole and the economy. Damian also chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Credit Unions.

Before entering Parliament, Damian spent 18 years working in the pubs/brewing and hotel industries (both in Britain and abroad) and held senior management positions in two PLCs.
Damian's degree is in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford. His secondary schooling was at St Ambrose Grammar School, Altrincham. He lives in Alton with his wife Jacqui (a schoolteacher whose own schooling was also in Alton) and baby Kitty, born in early 2010.

Damian's political experience includes being chairman of the Bow Group, and standing for parliament in 2005 (Stretford & Urmston). He has written a number of policy papers and articles. Areas of policy interest include education, tackling poverty, and promoting business & enterprise; and he also has a special interest in affordable credit and sub-prime debt issues. In 2008 and 2009 he joined the Conservative Party's short volunteering projects in Rwanda.

Damian values East Hampshire's dedicated police, excellent local schools, and National Health Service which include the community hospitals and GP surgeries in convenient locations.
Damian believes more affordable homes are needed in East Hampshire, accessible to local young families, while ensuring overall development is on an appropriate scale.

Damian will fight to protect village facilities: the remaining shops, post offices and village schools. Damian understands the need to support market towns like Alton and Petersfield, and will strive to help ensure the opportunity is seized for the best future for Bordon, and the best deal for all local people.

Damian enjoys rock and pop music from 1956 to the present day. He enjoys reading, and spending time with family and friends.
