As fashion events go, New York Fashion Week is certainly one of the most notable. Held between 7 - 13 September this year, the celebration of style brings together some of the greatest minds from all over the globe to share their latest creative offerings.

This year we were extremely excited to be right in the heart of The Big Apple for New York Fashion Week - not only were we able to get a first-hand look at some of the new and emerging trends from the fashion world, but we were able to promote DV Closet and our smartphone app overseas.

Of course, we can't talk about this year's New York Fashion Week without discussing some of the stand-out shows that you might have already heard about. Tom Ford dazzled audiences with a strong focus on pink and a particularly bold quadruple denim look, while Rihanna's latest collaboration with Puma pulled in huge crowds -- RiRi herself even hitched a ride on the back of a motorcycle to perform a victory lap at the end of the show.

Victoria Beckham also impressed with a show that focused on 'real clothes for real life' -- a message that we can definitely get behind. The collection was daring but still practical, focusing strongly on colour palettes and taking plenty of inspiration from menswear in terms of silhouettes.

Aside from the shows, we were also lucky enough to meet some seriously talented designers that are helping to push the fashion industry forwards. It was great to meet Eni and Nigma, the two brains behind the 'fashion-tech' label Venia. Venia is a concept contemporary men's and womenswear label designed for the modern entrepreneur, and is fully committed to making the most of virtual reality and 3D printing technology when designing its clothes. Having had the chance to see its latest collection up close and personal, we can certainly vouch for how cool and stylish it all is.

We were also really happy to attend the launch of a new label called LVL XII -- a luxury streetwear brand created by designer/creative director Antonio Brown and global popstar Jason Derulo -- which was held at Bloomingdales. With high quality fabrics and unique takes on urban designs, Brown and Derulo have created a transformative clothing range that is sure to be a hit. Plus, every single item is designed to be genderless, which we're particularly excited about!

As we walked around Manhattan, we quickly noticed that the influence of New York Fashion Week was noticeable not just in the shows, but also on the streets of the Big Apple. The city was alive with flair and colour, with individuals openly embracing their own personal styles and expressing themselves through style. With different colours, fabrics, hairdos and make-up styles floating past us, it felt like we were in the middle of a live catwalk show.

All in all, being in Manhattan for New York Fashion Week has been nothing short of a whirlwind adventure. The unique atmosphere that surrounds the city during this week is really special, and we can't wait to see what it offers us next year.
