Ten Ways to Set Healthier New Year's Resolutions

What it means for one person to feel healthy, may be very different from another. In order to understand what 'healthy' means for you and how to achieve this, get yourself a pen and paper , go someone quiet and answer the questions below.

The New Year is here and we are all filled with motivation, excitement and anticipation to be healthier and happier. But what does it really mean to be healthy? The definition of according to The Oxford Dictionary (www.oxforddictionaries.com) is 'in a good physical or mental condition'. Healthy is therefore something which used to describe both the mind and the body and both need to be 'in a good condition' in order to feel truly healthy. The real definition of health is purely a personal one though. What it means for one person to feel healthy, may be very different from another. In order to understand what 'healthy' means for you and how to achieve this, get yourself a pen and paper , go someone quiet and answer the questions below.

•When was the time in your life when you felt healthiest in mind and body?

•How did it feel to be this healthy?

•Why were you healthy at that time?

•Name five things were you doing then which you could do now to feel healthy.

•When can you implement these changes?

•How will you feel when you implement these changes?

•How can you ensure that you keep these changes up so that they become a long term lifestyle change rather than a short term goal?

•What support will you need to make these changes?

Over the next week aim to implement one of your five changes which you wrote down to be healthier (you can write them down again in the space below)

My 5 changes to feel healthier are:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

After five days, answer these two questions:

How do I feel at the end of these 5 days?

Is there anything else I can do to feel even healthier?

I hope that now you are on track to feeling the healthiest, happiest version of you. Remember that when you are honest with yourself, aware of who you are and what is happening in your life, you will be on the first step of the ladder of positive change. Happy New Year!
