Generally the first question I get asked is why am I not practicing clinical medicine. I have taken an unusual path to where I am today, but it has been driven by one unifying factor……..how can you make a sustainable healthcare system that really works for people at a price that is acceptable.

This took me from medicine into healthcare consulting at McKinsey for a number of years, and then to PruHealth.

PruHealth appealed to me as one important aspect of making a sustainable healthcare system in the face of ever increasing chronic disease is to get people to focus on improving their own health. Vitality does exactly this. We are all bombarded constantly with advice on what we should do to improve our health, but we often do not know what we personally should do, and there are so many barriers in the way (be it cost, or our time). By helping people to understand their health and how to improve it, making it easier and cheaper to get healthy, and giving people incentives for getting healthier, Vitality really helps people along this journey.

Ontop of this, PruHealth offers outstanding health insurance cover for people should they get sick. But healthcare comes at an ever increasing cost, and it is always an interesting challenge to try to offer a product that customers want at a price that they think is appropriate.

Outside work I am a keen sports woman, combining more conventional exercise such as running, cycling, and tennis, with more unusual sports like horse riding. In less active moments I love curling up with a good book.
