Dr Patrick Roach is Deputy General Secretary at NASUWT - the teachers’ union.

Patrick was appointed as the Union’s Deputy General Secretary in June 2010.

He has an extensive track record of working with Government on the full range of pay and conditions of service matters affecting teachers.

Patrick holds an elected seat as a member of the World Executive Board of Education International and leads the Union’s international programme.

Patrick’s career includes time served as a teacher of politics and sociology to 16-19 year old students in further education colleges. Patrick has also lectured on social policy issues to undergraduate and post-graduate students in two UK universities.

Prior to his career at the NASUWT, Dr Roach was involved in leading a range of innovative programmes focusing on teacher education, working with disaffected and excluded young people, and engaging parents and local communities.
