Alan Titchmarsh is currently recovering, after being airlifted to hospital following a health scare last week.

The cause of the TV veteran’s worries was gallstones, and his sudden bout of pain occurred following a big meal.

Alan’s agent explains to The Sun: “Alan was in agony after eating fish and chips and an Easter egg.

“He was airlifted to hospital but was quickly told the pain was caused by gallstones.

“He is in tip-top condition and has been out boating since.

“He will be looking at the food he eats.”

He was first taken to St Mary’s hospital, near his Isle Of Wight home, before being airlifted to Portsmouth’s Queen Alexandra hospital, adds the paper.

While Alan is generally in good health, he previously revealed that he does take statins to ward off heart disease, due to a family history of the condition.

The star has been on our screens for decades, and after deciding to call time on his ITV show, the star presented a 'Masterpiece' series for the channel
