Butlins has apologised over a 'race hate' wrestling show at one of their holiday camps which has been likened to a Britain First rally.

In footage of the incident, families were told to boo and hiss at a bearded baddie named 'Hakim', who reportedly entered the ring brandishing an "Islamic flag".

He was battling against Tony Spitfire who was clad in Union Jack shorts and carried an England banner.

Newcastle PR executive Christian Cerisola recounted how his children witnessed the "horrific race hate-filled ten minutes of everything wrong on racial stereotypes" and demanded Butlins review its wrestling show.

He wrote in a series of posts on Twitter:

"So we brought the kids to Butlins this [weekend]. Rough round the edges, but loads for them to do. It was all going well ...

They asked to watch the wrestling last night. Harmless bit of fun, we thought Butlins. But no ...

I felt I was dropped into the middle of a Britain First rally. Out came 'Hakim'. The Islamic flag waving baddie. 'BOOOOO', we were told.

Then came Union flag trunk wearing 'Tony Spitfire'. Yes Tony Spitfire, ladies and gents. 'En-Ger-land!' He thumped over and over.

A horrific race hate-filled ten minutes of everything wrong on racial stereotypes. How did this get past the sense checkers Butlins?'

Butlins executives were forced to apologise, telling Mr Ceriso the show that is aimed at children was "a totally unacceptable one-off".

They said:

"Yesterday's wrestling was a deviation from the agreed content and we're conducting a full review with our supplier as to why.

We'd like to assure you and all guests this was a totally unacceptable one-off which is contrary to Butlin's values.

It will not happen again."

A description on the Butlins website says of the popular wrestling event: "Get ready to boo the bad guys and cheer your favourites as the atmosphere is always electric and guaranteed to have everyone on their feet enjoying themselves."

The Mirror reported 'Superslam Wrestling' would continue at Butlins in its agreed format.
