'I'm A Celebrity' Star Carol Vorderman Reveals Menopause 'Triggered Six Months Of Depression'

She wants to help lift the taboo around the subject.

Carol Vorderman has revealed how going into the menopause triggered a bout of depression that lasted six months.

The TV presenter, who is about to embark on a stint in the Australian jungle for ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, adds she is speaking out about her experience in the hope of helping lift the taboo on the subject.

“I think it’s one of those taboos. Not many people talk about it and, if they do, they talk about it medically rather than the mental health side of it.”

The glamorous presenter remembered that during her childhood, it was referred to as “the change” and was never spoken of, something she thinks should change.

Since receiving treatment in the form of hormone gels, something she credits for keeping her on an even keel once more, Carol has clearly not hesitated to pick up the reins of her full life, including continuing her pilot’s training, and accepting the invitation to enter the jungle, where she’ll be the only single woman, sharing space with ‘Gogglebox’ star Scarlett Moffatt, Lisa Snowdon and Ola Jordan.
