EastEnders Spin-Off For Kat And Alfie Moon 'To Become Primetime BBC1 Drama'

The pair have been filming in Ireland for the new series.

It looks like 'EastEnders' characters Kat and Alfie Moon will be getting more than a one-off with their new show, with reports that 'Redwater' is to become a major drama for primetime BBC1.

The original plan was for Kat and Alfie, played by Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie, to appear in a one-off set of six episodes, based around their search for Kat's long-lost son, set in the remote Irish coastal village of Redwater.

Now the Sun reports that the filming has been going so well and with such impressive results that the show is being considered for a further series, to be aired in a weekly 9pm slot.

'EastEnders' fans last saw Kat and Alfie in the Square over Christmas, reeling from the sudden death of Kat's dad Charlie. They have been in the soap infrequently over the last year, with their storyline seeing them move to Spain having won a million pounds with a scratch card.

This news comes as the soap's bosses address the departure of another much-loved character from Albert Square. Actor Jonny Labey has confirmed he'll be leaving later this year...
