'EastEnders': Shane Richie Confirms Kat And Alfie Moon ARE Alive, As He Eyes Soap Return

'Redwater' isn't returning for a second series.

Shane Richie has revealed the fates of Kat and Alfie Moon, after they were feared dead at the end of ‘EastEnders’ spin-off ‘Redwater’.

The actor has insisted both beloved characters are still very much alive, despite Alfie flatlining during brain surgery and Kat appearing to drown in the closing moments of the final episode.

Speaking to The Sun, Shane also revealed he would love to return to the soap alongside Jessie Wallace, who plays Kat, after it was announced ‘Redwater’ would not be returning for a second series.

HuffPost UK has contacted an ‘EastEnders’ spokesperson to find out if there are any current plans for the characters to return.

Kat and Alfie left Walford for Spain in 2015, after winning a million pounds on the lottery.

They made a brief return over the festive period later that year, only to depart for Ireland, when Kat discovered she had a secret son that was born at the same time as her daughter Zoe.

It was previously claimed the soap’s new boss John Yorke was planning to reintroduce Kat and Alfie as part of his plan to turn around the show’s flagging ratings, following the sudden exit of previous executive producer Sean O’Connor.

Meanwhile, a raft of other cast changes have recently been announced with Harry Reid, Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald leaving their roles as Ben Mitchell and Branning sisters Lauren and Abi respectively.

Nitin Ganatra is also set to reprise his role as Masood Ahmed, who will return to Albert Square after only a year away, with some new family members in tow.
