Georgia May Foote has expressed her excitement at bagging her first theatre role, following her success on last year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress, who made it through to the final of ‘Strictly’ back in December, has landed the role of Holly Golightly in a West End production of ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’.

She’ll be sharing the role - made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the film of the same name - with fellow ‘Strictly’ star Pixie Lott, as well as ‘Inbetweeners’ actress Emily Atack, starting in September.

Speaking about the role, an excited Georgia revealed: “I am so excited that for my first theatre role I will be playing such an iconic character… It's a wonderful adaptation of an incredible story and I'm really thrilled to be part of it!”

Of course, her ‘Strictly’-partner-turned-boyfriend Giovanni Pernice was among the first to share his congratulations, tweeting: “Proud of you Amore… can’t wait to see you on stage.”

Georgia and Giovanni have been dating since the most recent series of ‘Strictly’ ended, becoming an item shortly after this year’s final.

Despite only being an item for a number of months, they’ve even revealed plans to move in together when Georgia makes the move from Manchester to London this year.

She recently credited her new beau with “helping her through” some tough times, admiting: “Gio is my best friend… he’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Georgia previously admitted she'd be keen to use her experience on 'Strictly' to launch a career in the theatre, claiming last year: "To dance a dance and get that immediate round of applause, or whatever the reaction is, it’s there and it’s amazing and for me, it’s made me want to go into theatre.

You can catch Georgia in action later this year, on selected dates between 19 September and 19 November.
