Google's New Robot Is Scarily Good At Everyday Tasks You Can't Do

It is designed to 'help society.'

Google has unveiled a bipedal robot that is scarily adept at doing a number of tasks that we humans might find difficult.

The machine was able to effectively handle surprise, walk up stairs, carry heavy loads and perform several functions without getting itself into a twist.

Here's the bot in action:

It is the latest offering from Google's SCHAFT, which is now part of Alphabet's experimental tech lab.

The nameless robot took its first steps in public at the New Economic Summit conference in Tokyo, Japan.

According to IEEE Spectrum, it is essentially designed to be a "low-cost, low-power, compact device to ‘help society."
