John Lewis Christmas Advert 2016: Vaults To Cover 'One Day I'll Fly Away' For New Ad

It's another unknown act.

The song featuring in this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert has reportedly been revealed, ahead of the full clip’s debut.

It has been claimed that a cover of the jazz hit ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’ - originally made famous by Randy Crawford - will serve as the soundtrack to the department store’s latest festive effort.

And for the second year in a row, the ad will feature a relatively unknown act, with London-based electronica trio Vaults lending their interpretation of the song to the ad, according to Record Of The Day.

At present, the contents of the ad are still not known, but a 10-second clip posted by a mysterious Twitter account on Monday (7 November) morning has had people speculating it may be a teaser for the ad.

In the short clip, a dog is shown watching a child on a red space-hopper, along with the message #BounceBounce.

This comes after a number of people were tricked by a hoax advert featuring a CGI snowman love story last week, which it turned out had been created by an A-level Media Studies student.

What we can safely say, though, is that we’re probably in for another Yuletide tear-jerker, given the past few years’ John Lewis Christmas adverts.

Last year, the ‘Man On The Moon’ ad had a social message about taking care of the elderly in our community around Christmas, and was accompanied by singer/songwriter Aurora’s take on the Oasis classic, ‘Half The World Away’.

Tom Odell covered John Lennon’s ‘Real Love’ in 2014, which was shown over the emotional festive tale of Monty the Penguin.

Past ads have featured music from big names in British music, including Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding and Paloma Faith.

Reports have suggested that the John Lewis Christmas advert will be debuted this Thursday (10 November), meaning you should probably stock up on tissues pretty soon.
