While many Brits were on Wednesday busy expressing their gratitude to John Lewis for the joy its Christmas advert brought to them - others more amusingly suggested what would actually happen if their advert took place in real life.

This year’s advert features the story of a little girl and her dog who both love to bounce, set to a version of Randy Crawford’s One Day I’ll Fly Away.

Buster the dog can be seen watching longingly as wild animals enjoy jumping on Bridget’s new trampoline the night before Christmas - but the boxer finally gets his chance the next morning and is watched wide-eyed by his human companion as he finally gets a go.

But some suggested that things might be rather different in real life once the novelty of a trampoline wore off...

It can sometimes be hard to get your stars to co-operate...

There were some regional suggestions...

The unofficial account of Number 10’s pet cat Larry suggested things would be a little different for a feline...

Then there’s budget constraints...

Of course some dogs are too busy for faffing about with trampolines...
