Fan meet and greets during arena tours have been a ‘thing’ for quite a while now, but Justin Bieber has decided that he isn’t going to play ball anymore.

The singer has told fans that he’s ‘sorry’ (geddit?) but he's cancelling all future meet and greet sessions for the remainder of his current world tour. And his reasoning is more than a little bizarre.

Biebs explained himself on Instagram, sharing a cute snap of himself with a young fan, alongside a mammoth caption:

The caption reads (deep breath needed): “Love u guys.. I'm going to be canceling my meet and greets.

“I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.

“Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.

“The pressure of meeting people's expectations of what I'm supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders.

“Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised. Can't tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn't so hard on me.

“And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I'm in to give you the best show you have ever seen ;).”

So let’s just get this straight -Justin loves meeting his fans and bringing them unrivalled joy with his presence, but not at his own expense. Even though they’ve shelled out £500 for to say hi to him. Riiiiiight.

And then he ends the mini-essay with a wink face? What on earth?

Biebs kicked off his world jaunt earlier this month, but was left red-faced when fans spotted that his merch stand was selling t-shirts with the word 'Purpose’ spelt wrong on them.

He’ll begin performing a string of UK gigs in October, but before that, he’s also booked to headline V Festival in August.
