Great Britain’s Laura Trott has become the most successful female British Olympian of all time after claiming her fourth gold medal when winning the women’s track cycling omnium.

Trott, who won team pursuit gold on Saturday, successfully defended the title she won at London 2012 to take her to four career Olympic gold medals, the most for a female British Olympian.

And the tweet below shows just how awesome her talent is.

A fourth gold saw Trott move above Charlotte Dujardin in the reckoning after the equestrian rider won her third gold on Monday.

Trott’s success took Britain’s tally to five gold medals and three silvers from the eight events which had concluded, but Britain were only represented in seven after failing to qualify in the women’s team sprint.

The 24-year-old from Cheshunt took a commanding 24-point advantage into the points race, which concluded the six-discipline omnium, and rode a masterful race.

The Briton finished with 230 points, 24 clear of her nearest rival, after enhancing her advantage in the discipline which was once her Achilles heel.

Sarah Hammer of the United States was second on 206 points and Belgium’s Jolien d’Hoore third on 199.

Trott won her first world title in the discipline since 2012 in London in March after three successive second places behind Hammer (2013, 2014) and Annette Edmondson of Australia (2015).
