Maura Higgins won a lot of fans during her time in the Love Island villa this year, thanks to her candid nature and hilarious one-liners, but she’s revealed there was a side to her on the show that we didn’t get to see.

Before finding romance with Curtis Pritchard, Maura has revealed she found the quest for love in the villa particularly trying, even “storming out of the villa” during one outburst.

Speaking on her new podcast Get The Scoop, Maura explained: “I cried so many times. You have a lot of good moments, but then you have a lot of bad moments in there too because things get very heightened.”

She continued: “I’m so proud of the fact I didn’t give up because I was going to give up. I actually stormed out of the villa and said, ‘I want to go home, I can’t do it anymore, I can’t find a man’.

“But I’m so proud that I got the strength to stay and carry on... and now look, I’ve got a man!”

Since leaving the villa, Maura and Curtis’ romance is still going strong, while she has made multiple appearances on This Morning, where she now has a recurring presenting role.

She’s also been heavily rumoured to be appearing on the upcoming series of Dancing On Ice, which the show has fuelled with their latest line-up teaser…

If she does wind up on the Dancing On Ice line-up next year, she’ll follow in the footsteps of fellow Love Island stars Kem Cetinay and Wes Nelson, both of whom made the final in their series.

Also rumoured for the new series are her former co-stars Amber Gill and Tommy Fury.
