A couple, who lost their baby boy in the chaos as a speeding truck drove into crowds on a Nice promenade, have been reunited with their son.
The eight-month-old rolled away in his blue pram when the lorry mounted the pavement and killed 84 people who had gathered to watch a display of fireworks celebrating Bastille Day.
The child’s aunt Tiava Banner sent out an appeal on Facebook pleading for information about her nephew.
She wrote: “We have lost our eight-month-old baby.
“Friends of Nice, if you have seen him, if you were there, if you have picked him up, please contact me.”
The post was shared more than 22,000 times and hours later Banner updated her post to reflect the baby had been found safe and well.
“Thank you so much!” she wrote.
Explaining that other members of the family had been hospitalised in the attack, Banner extended her gratitude to everyone who had shared the image.
A member of the family contacted by AFP said: “A young woman found him and took him home with her. She then went online and found the photo of the baby on Facebook.”
She then contacted Banner, reuniting the little boy with his family.
The attacker has been named as 31-year-old Tunisian-born Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel.
He was shot dead by police in a hail of bullets.
No group has claimed responsibility for the carnage, but French officials called it an undeniable act of terror.
The assault on revelers in the southern French city rocked a nation still dealing with the aftermath of two attacks in Paris last year that killed 147 people and were claimed by the Islamic State extremist group.
