Nick Carter has denied rape, following a blog post from singer Melissa Schuman, in which she alleges the Backstreet Boys star forced himself on her 15 years ago.

Melissa explains the alleged incidents in detail, explaining that she went to Nick’s apartment with a friend, while they were working on a TV movie together, at the age of 18.

Once there, she says he took her into a bathroom and assaulted her. Explaining why she never said anything at the time, Melissa writes: “I didn’t want to even admit what happened was real to myself.

“Over the next few weeks I withdrew further and further from my friends and family and they noticed. I still didn’t tell anyone.”

Nick has now issued a statement denying that the events took place. In a statement issued to CNN, he said: “Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual.

“We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.

“This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”

Melissa also mentions the track they performed together, stating that he joined her for a showcase at a record label.

She writes: “I never did another showcase again after that and I quickly lost interest in pursuing a career as a recording artist.”
