Selma Blair has issued a public apology, following her recent meltdown on board an aeroplane.
On Monday (20 June), Selma was taken off a return flight from Mexico to Los Angeles on a stretcher, with TMZ claiming she’d been involved in an “outburst”.
She has now explained herself, admitting the incident occurred after she mixed alcohol with medication.
Selma writes in a statement to Vanity Fair:
“I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret.
“My son was with his dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologise to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath.
“I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”
TMZ reported that two nurses administered oxygen to Selma in an attempt to calm her down, after she “lost control” and began “screaming uncontrollably”, while sitting in first class with her husband and four-year-old son.
Selma is best known for her roles in ‘Legally Blonde’ and ‘Cruel Intentions’, and recently made headlines when she starred as Kris Jenner (then Kardashian) in Ryan Murphy’s ‘American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson’.
