Strictly Come Dancing's Katya Jones Insists She's Not Drunk After Falling Over Twice In Live Show

The pro dancer hit the deck during her routine with Mike Bushell, before falling again while being interviewed by Claudia Winkleman.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones has insisted she was not drunk after falling over twice during the show’s Movie Week.

The dancer suffered the ultimate ballroom nightmare when she fell over while dancing with partner Mike Bushell on Saturday’s live show.

Viewers saw her crash to the ground as the pair performed a Cha Cha to It’s Raining Men from the film Magic Mike, before she attempted to style it out.

However, as she and Mike headed upstairs after their performance to be interviewed by host Claudia Winkleman, Katya appeared to trip up once again.

But speaking on Twitter, Katya insisted she had staged the second fall in reference to her earlier blunder, denying speculation among viewers that she was drunk.

“Guys! I’m totally fine! No idea what happened. So sorry . But so proud of @mikebreakfast for carrying on and delivering ‘the dolphin’!” she wrote.

“FYI I did it again on purpose in Claudia’s area! And im def not drunk as some people think.”

She then shared a GIF of her fall on the dancefloor, adding: “This is so hilarious! Me trying to hold on to @mikebreakfast tie! And then all I cared about is him finishing the routine, so I kept shouting - go! Go! Finish it!!”

Despite the absolute dancefloor disaster, Mike and Katya managed to come away with 18 points - although the score still landed them at third from bottom on the leaderboard.

Anneka Rice was the lowest scorer of the night with her Charleston to Woo Hoo from the film Kill Bill receiving only 11 points from the judges.

At the opposite end of the scale, it was a big night for Kelvin Fletcher, who was awarded the first 10s of the series when his Charleston to Trip A Little Light Fantastic from the film Mary Poppins Returns scored a whopping 38 points.

Find out which couple will be leaving the show when Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
