Teenage Girls Admit Kidnapping Toddler, 2, From Newcastle Primark

Two teenage girls have pleaded guilty to kidnapping a two-year-old girl from a Primark store.

The little girl went missing from the Primark in Newcastle’s busy Northumberland Street in April.

She was found in a park in the suburb of Gosforth three miles away, an hour and 45 minutes later.

The girls, aged 13 and 14 and from Tyneside, were also charged with shoplifting dummies, baby milk and a bottle from other stores.

The pair, who cannot be identified, appeared at a youth court hearing in North Tyneside. Neither have previous convictions or have been arrested before.

They had been due to face further charges under the Sexual Offences Act, but these charges have been discontinued, the court heard.

They were refused bail and have been remanded into local authority care. They will appear before the same court on 4 July but may be sentenced at a crown court.
