Shirley Ballas might not be a name you’re familiar with at the moment, but that’s all about to change after she was named as Len Goodman’s replacement as the head judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

Shirley, AKA ‘the Queen of Latin’, will be making herself comfortable in Len’s seat when the BBC dance show returns this autumn, and she’s more than qualified to be dishing out critiques to the celebrity dancers.

The 56-year-old is highly regarded in the world of ballroom and although she’s not a household name in the UK (yet), she’s a well-known face on the other side of the pond, having regularly appeared on the US version of ‘Strictly’, ‘Dancing With The Stars’.

Speaking about her new role on ‘Strictly’, she said: “I am so excited and over the moon to have been given this wonderful opportunity,” she said.

“I can’t wait to get into the ballroom and be part of the incredible and respected judging panel. Strictly is so loved by the British public, I have always been a massive fan. I just can’t wait!”
