Eve Betts
Eve Betts is a first year journalism student at the University of Sheffield.

Having grown up devouring books and filling countless journals, her passion for writing led her to pursue a career in journalism.

She is currently writing for the University of Sheffield’s student newspaper Forge Press, student magazine Liberty Belle and independent music website CarpeMusica.

Eve fills her few remaining hours infiltrating gigs and movie theatres in the vain hope she will one day be half as terrifying a critic as Mark Kermode.

"I'm Lloyd and we're gonna watch the movie Cocoon. It's about a group of older people who go to outer space. I've never actually seen it but I hear it's pretty good."

A mournful voice in the background quavered, "Why can't I eat popcorn anymore?"

Mum, Maria and I were...

I have begun to feel at home at University again.

This semester began so loudly and abruptly it was as though Aragorn was sitting on my chest bellowing "Kill the Orcs! Kill the Orcs!" and accidentally dripping Warg blood on my face. Not that I'd normally complain if such a...

Before I arrived at university I was worried about three things; 1) I would lose my flat keys in Fresher's Week and end up sleeping with the campus foxes 2) In my first seminar, a journalism lecturer resembling Jon Snow, terrifying and intelligent, would boom at me, "Young lady, what...

Coming back to university after Easter this time was hard. I had assumed travelling home and back again would become easier the more times I did it. But waving to my determinedly cheerful family from the train window, I reached two conclusions; 1) My fantasy of meeting The One on...

It filled me with a tiny bit of despair leaving university for Easter this time round. Not that I wasn't missing my family back home, but this semester had been so dangerously joyous that it becomes hard to leave a world where even lying upside-down on a couch, eating strawberries...

Recently, a report was published by the National Union of Students discussing lad culture in universities. (0) Comments | Posted 11 March 2013 | (00:12)

There are three days left before I leave university for the Easter break and I am once again torn between wanting to go back to a world where I am woken by birds chirping or stay in the Student Village where I am woken by drunken nineteen year old's singing...

'Do You Believe In Heaven?'

(22) Comments | Posted 8 March 2013 | (23:00)

"Do you believe in Heaven?" Lauren asked.

Lauren, Will and I were sat in our newsroom, surfing a website called "Supernatural Hunters" instead of researching our patches, a habit of ours that had led to our tutor labeling us the 'skivers' of the group, despite the fact that the three...

There's one week left before I go home for the Easter holidays and I don't think I have ever been more relieved to return to a world where the most stressful decision I have to make is whether to bake a lemon drizzle or chocolate cream cake.

My life has...

My university work load has gotten noticeably heavier this semester. This is a simultaneously great and bad thing.

The great thing is that I am writing every day, which is something I feel I was destined to do ever since I first picked up a muddy stick at the age...
