Frankie Rizzo, is an ex army and martial arts expert. He has turned his hand to acting and has a leading role in the up and coming film Gangsters Guns and Zombies Directed, by Matt Mitchell. Frankie is proud of his working class roots, he says "everyone seems posh to me, I'm an ex squaddie, I'm a bit of rough, it's who I am" When I asked if there is a middle-class obsession with the working class in film. Guffawingly he says "yes i think they like to watch us struggle ha ha"
Frankie gives me the wink when I ask him his age, so I gave him the wink back and don''t ask again. He tells me he got into acting four years ago, starting off with Tv adverts. He did adverts for Fairy Liquid , Cheerios, Chanel 4 Radio and Santanta Sports. "The directors told me that I was good at taking direction they gave me the confidence to give it a go"
Frankie has been friends with Liam Gallagher for years, but he is very protective and discrete about his friendship, not giving too much away, "being mates with Liam don't get me acting jobs but does get me more so called friends." Frankie is heading up North with Liam to
watch The Stone Roses Gig, he tells me "I'm excited I love the Stone Roses, we'll 'ave a few drinks"
On playing his character Pat, he says "Pat can be funny, serious and stupid , I loved playing him, I was shown the script I thought it was well written and funny and I wanted to be a part of it. Me and Pat could be the same person I suppose in a lot of ways"
On British films Frankie is quick to give his opinion in a very matter of fact tone "people are fed up with films that aint real if you know what I mean and British films are real...keep it real i say". On Frankie going to Hollywood and following in the footsteps of the likes of Vinnie Jones, he grins and shakes his head " I would stay here thanks, better pubs" When I ask him what actors he admires, he is quick to reply "I've always admired actors like, Stephen Graham, Ray
Winston, people like that".
Frankie is certainly one to watch out for. He has already landed himself another role in the film 'Boxed In'. "I'm working on a film called 'Boxed In' that was written by Fabrizio Santino who plays crazy Steve in Gangsters Guns and Zombies, so look out for this one its going to be big" If Frankie's stature, personality and laugh is anything to go by, it will be BIG.
