Iain McNay Is the Chairman of the UK independent record label Cherry Red which he founded in the midst of 1978’s burgeoning punk scene. Renowned for its diversity, the label had early successes with artists ranging from the Dead Kennedys (whose first album Cherry Red financed) to Everything But The Girl, The Monochrome Set and Felt – going on to release the groundbreaking compilation Pillows & Prayers in 1982.

Almost 35 years later, Cherry Red is still going strong with the help of Managing Director Adam Velasco. The label releases more than 500 albums each year, including new music from artists like The Fall and Go Kart Mozart, and a wide range of catalogue releases on imprints including RPM, Reactive, Esoteric, BBR, él and Grapefruit.

Iain has served on the board of the Association of Independent Music where he was Vice-Chairman for two years and is currently a member of the BPI Council. He has also been a director of AFC Wimbledon Football club for the past seven years.
