Iman Morooka is a Communication Specialist who has been working with UNICEF since 2006.

Iman was based in Nairobi, Kenya, as Communication Officer with UNICEF Somalia Support Centre until from 2009 to 2012. Before that, she worked with UNICEF Egypt. She is currently based in New York, working in the Division of Communication in UNICEF headquarters.

Before joining UNICEF, Iman worked with the international radio department in NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, based in Tokyo.

Iman holds a Master’s degree in international economics and development studies from Sophia University in Japan, and a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Cairo University in Egypt.

Homs, Syria: You don't have to drive too far to see signs of destruction and devastation. The thundering sound of shelling is part of everyday life here. Hundreds of thousands of civilians have had to flee their homes from many parts of Homs in search for safety.
