Is Danny Dyer The Doctor Who That We'd All Love To See?

Danny may not be everyone's cup of tea but the fact he has become a popular figure in one of the country's biggest soaps, has shown that his style can crack the mainstream. So, what better way of rewarding his acting renaissance than by handing him THE most iconic role in British TV?

What a time to be an alien. For years, they've pretty much had carte blanche to go where they want, as long as they don't break the rules of the lands they've chosen to inhabit but times, they are a changin'.

Aliens are suddenly not welcome in certain places as they now don't look as friendly as once thought. There is a train of thought that they should be banished to the far reaches of the galaxy and the keys thrown away, so that they can't get back in.

On top of all that, there's going to be a new Doctor in town and he could be the most bad ass tour de force that any being has ever come across.

When Peter Capaldi hangs up his Doctor Who clobber for the last time at Christmas, there could be the need for someone to take up the reins that's not going to take any messing from pesky otherworldly creatures.

Yes, I think the time has come for Danny Dyer to take the keys of the T.A.R.D.I.S. and keep time and space under control. Bish! Any Cybermen poking their heads out of the time vortex will be dispatched back to whence they came.

Bash! Keep back Sontarans, otherwise your potato-like heads are going to get a mashing.

Bosh! Daleks beware, your exterminate nonsense will not wash when Dyer is the Doctor.

There were almost audible gasps when it was announced that Danny was joining the EastEnders cast, to become Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter. He was widely ridiculed as an actor because he had mainly been in violent gangster movies (and not very good ones at that) and was the face of documentaries that looked at subjects like 'The Hardest Hooligans in South America'.

Of course, all that time spent in the presence of some of the most despicable humans around, would leave Danny in a good stead when it comes to fighting the meanest monsters that are looking to take over the world.

Danny has told the Daily Star that he "could see myself in the scarf and all that" and that he would definitely keep his East End accent.

Surely the human race would be safer with someone like Danny looking after our manor?

Admittedly, this would be a leftfield choice but it could reinvigorate Doctor Who after a feeling of indifference had started to sneak in over the past year or so.

Of course, the likes of Olivia Colman would be a far more deserving and interesting choice but wouldn't it be great, even as a stop gap, if the BBC were to unleash Danny Dyer on the universe. I mean, what's the worst that could happen?
