The popularity in dating apps seems to know no end. More and more people are using them rather than traditional online dating sites. It's not surprising as they allow people the chance to search for singles in their area and get dates almost instantly.
As a dating expert, I watch new dating apps get launched each week to try and keep up with the demand. Tinder is the most famous but it doesn't work for everyone. It's simple to use but isn't always the first choice for finding a long term relationship. Singles don't want a clone of Tinder, so they are looking for something different that might suit their needs better. So which ones are worth trying and which ones aren't even worth downloading? Today, I'm casting my relationship expert eye on the very best and newest ones out there.
- bod (Bad Online Dates)
First dates can be great fun, but they don't always go as planned. There's nothing more disappointing than getting excited about your date only to end up having a terrible date. You have no chemistry, no connection and no desire to see them again. Normally you'd head home wishing you'd not bothered. The good news is that there is now a fantastic solution to making sure you haven't wasted your entire evening - the recently launched dating app, bod, which stands for "bad online dates".
With bod, you can run a search to see if anyone else in your area is having the same experience as you. If you are, you can arrange to meet up in real-time to see if you hit it off better than the dud before. It's a fun idea that may just come in handy one day!
Some of the best new apps are targeted at specific niches. Interracial dating app, Mixy is made for singles looking to meet, date, and start relationships with people of other races and cultures. The app works in a similar fashion to Tinder, swiping right to users you are interested in and left to those you aren't. If you both swipe right a match is made and you are free to chat about whatever you like. The app also has many unique features such as, 'Moments', where members can upload images to showcase their life, as well as, 'Lookbook' to check out some of the other users outside your immediate area.
If you want to make friends or get dates then this app gives you so many opportunities. I especially love the fact that they have members in over 50 countries all over the world. This is better than any dating agency !
Luxy will soon be releasing its most exclusive feature to date, known as Luxy Club. Luxy Club is for the most elite of the elite and allows users to converse in private. This features is still in its initial stages but Luxy hope to give their users privileges outside of the app including private access to restaurants and hotel upgrades.
It's currently only available in the UK and Ireland but rumor has it they are due to launch in the US later this year.
As wonderful as dating apps are, they aren't the solution for everyone. You won't be able to stand out from the competition and get lots of matches if you don't put any effort in. Make sure you have a smiling, happy profile photo and take the time to write a fun, creative profile. When you do make a match, send them an interesting message to get them to reply. Happy dating!
