Love, Laugh and Cry: Be Inspired By Desmond Tutu

Desmond Tutu: Just Like You from Citizens of Humanity on Vimeo.

Firstly, APOLOGIES that I haven't written in so long, I really do admire all those bloggers and writers who dedicate themselves so tirelessly to regular articles, posts and updates. The good news is I am coming back with a bang with an exclusive video that is truly inspiring.

Luxury denim brand Citizens of Humanity has been running a philanthropic video series called "Just Like You" for a year now, and each month a new video is released profiling a different person of interest. Previous participants have included Supermodel and philanthropist Christy Turlington Burns, The Editor of Vogue Italia Franca Sozzani, Michelin-starred chefs Michel Rostang and Helene Darozze, and ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov (also known as "The Russian" in Sex and The City).

The final video comes from non other than humanitarian activist and icon Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Best known for being a driving force in the abolition of apartheid in South Africa alongside the late Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu is one of the loudest voices crying out for world peace and equal human rights for all across the globe. In his "Just Like You" video, Desmond talks about what is most important in life: to love, to laugh and to cry.

What I loved most about the video was that it made me really pause in my day and think about what's important. In the UK especially, enjoying the freedom that we do (GAY MARRIAGE, HURRAH!), it's easy to forget that others aren't as fortunate as us. What's so inspiring about Desmond in this video is the way that he is driven so much by helping and loving others. I for one, am going to go away and think about how I can do more for the world I live in and be a Citizen of Humanity, Just Like Desmond Tutu.

To buy Desmond's Citizens of Humanity t-shirt with 100% of proceeds going to the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, which helps people and societies create cultures of peace click here http://www.citizensofhumanity/justlikeyou . Apologies, dear reader, for leaving you in the lurch for so long before concluding this definitive list, but hopefully the pause has given everyone time to stock up on their jeans, bretons and trenches whilst debating furiously with friends and avid fashion fans what the next five items on the...

The Ten Items of Clothing Everyone Should Own...Or How To Build a Capsule Wardrobe

In my first article I wrote about Spring Summer 11 trends: those that I thought would in to Autumn/Winter 11, and those that I thought would soon flounder and look dated. Unfortunately though, even those that survive through to a second season often fall by the wayside soon after...only to...

The Kate Middleton Effect: A Fashion PR's View

(3) Comments | Posted 18 July 2011 | (10:39)

I think by now even the staunchest of republicans has realised that when Kate Middleton (aka the Duchess of Cambridge) wears a dress, it sells. And when I say that, I mean it sells and sells, and then crashes the designers' website and sells some more. So it's no surprise...

Spring Trends to Embrace - and Those to Avoid

It may be July already, but the Great British Summer is still yet to emerge, so it seems a little perverse that the world of fashion is already talking autumn/winter. I for one am yet to bare much more than an ankle so am far more interested in the spring/summer...
