Six Reasons Why Real Sociedad Is the Perfect Move for David Moyes

After his torrid time as boss of Manchester United David Moyes has wasted no time in giving himself a chance to once again prove himself as a top-class manager.

Moving outside the comfort zone of the Premier League is a bold step for the Scot but if he can make an impression on La Liga, then he will prove to all of his doubters that he still has what it takes to manage at the highest level.

Real Sociedad may just be the perfect place for Moyes to recover his tarnished image and here are six reasons why.

6. Weight of Expectation Finally Lifted

Moyes' time at Manchester United was so clearly marred by his inability to instantly deliver success that it was almost painful to watch by the end of his short tenure.

This however, will not be the case at Sociedad.

Rather than demanding titles and trophies in his first season in charge, fans of the club will surely be content to see some semblance of their 2012/13 form return to the side.

They have been spectacularly inconsistent so far this campaign, beating Atletico and Real Madrid in their only two wins of the season.

Consistency is Moyes' expert field however, and if he can deliver it to Sociedad then he should be a huge success.

5. The 'Spanish Everton'?

When you compare Sociedad and Everton, the similarities are strikingly clear.

Despite a relegation for the Spanish outfit in 2007, both clubs are seen as solid mid-table sides who unfortunately do not have the riches to take on the world's elite at the top of their respective divisions.

What they can do however, is mix it among the best and take a few scalps along the way.

By the end of his time at Everton, Moyes had arguably helped the club to usurp Liverpool as the best team in Merseyside. Sociedad fans will hope that he can achieve the same with their club and rivals Athletic Bilbao.

4. Sociedad Have Some Genuine Talent

When you look at the talent they have at their disposal, it is clear that La Real are underachieving hugely so far this season.

The likes of Carlos Vela (rejuvenated in Spain), Imanol Agirretxe, Inigo Martniez, Esteban Granero, Xabi Preto and Sergio Canales should not be languishing in a relegation fight and they more than likely won't be come the end of the campaign.

Sociedad are also a club famous for nurturing young players and their new manager is unlucky to have just missed out on working with the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Asier Illarrmendi.

3. A Recovery Job is Moyes' Ideal Situation

Demolishing lesser sides who dare to step into the once fearsome 'Theatre of Dreams' was the preserve of Sir Alex Ferguson, not David Moyes.

What Moyes can do however, which he proved more than once against Ferguson himself, is form a side that can grind out a difficult result against a bigger team.

Beating those around them on the way up the league is exactly what Moyes did with Everton and is now what is required with Sociedad.

As previously stated, the similarities between what was expected of the Scot at Everton and what is now needed in Spain are quite clear to any observer.

2. Traditionally Tenacious Basque Players

Players from the Basque area of Spain are generally seen to be a bit more 'British' in their style of play when compared to their fellow countrymen.

A prime example of this is Bayern Munich's Javi Martinez, once of Athletic Bilbao.

Although Moyes will not have the pleasure of working with the midfield enforcer, the sort of player coming through the club's youth system should be to his liking and fit well into his kind of side.

If Moyes is given time to mould his own, difficult to beat side, then Sociedad will be climbing the table in no time at all.

1. Backing of the Club President

Although Sociedad's sporting director reportedly wanted Pepe Mel as the man to take the club forward, Moyes had the backing of a more important figure - president Jokin Aperribay.

Although you could argue that this was also the case as Manchester United, it is a fact that can only be of benefit to the Scot as he takes charge in Spain.

If things do get tough for Moyes, then the club's President is more likely to stick by his chosen man rather than one favoured by somebody else.
