Joe Duckworth
After a successful career in local government, Joe Duckworth was appointed Chief Executive of the League Against Cruel Sports in September 2011. Until 2010 he was Chief Executive of Newham Council in east London, and of the Isle of Wight Council before that. He had previously been Deputy Chief Executive at Westminster Council. His early career was in trades unions, and as a research assistant at Bristol University.

A keen cyclist, in spring 2011 Joe cycled around the coast of Britain, a journey of more than 5,000 miles. He is married and lives in Surrey with his wife, three children and a menagerie of pets.
