Johanna Herman is a Research Fellow at the Centre on Human Rights in Conflict, School of Law and Social Sciences, University of East London. She leads the project Local voices in internationalized justice? The experience of civil parties at the ECCC.

Her areas of research interest include transitional justice, peacebuilding and human rights. She has co-authored War, Conflict and Human Rights with her colleagues at the Centre and co-edited Transitional Justice and Peacebuilding on the Ground: Victims and ex-combatants, Peacebuilding and Rule of Law in Africa: Just Peace? and Surviving Field Research: Working in Violent and Difficult Situations.
