Jonathan Wheeler, partner at specialist compensation claim solicitors, Bolt Burdon Kemp, has significant expertise in representing survivors of child abuse. Jonathan has 19 years experience in the field and has received numerous industry plaudits for his campaigning work for survivors of child abuse. His team represents children, as well as adults, who have been traumatised by recalling events of abuse in childhood which often occurred years ago and remained long buried. The firm sues individual abusers, their employers, foster parents, operators of children's homes and schools, social services departments which placed children in care, or failed to protect children being abused at home, religious organisations and charitable foundations. He acts for clients nationwide, both in one-off cases and large group actions, also assisting with applications to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

Jonathan also has a strong lobbying background in the field, having previously been co-ordinator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers' (APIL) Child Abuse Special Interest Group and he now sits on the organisation's executive committee. He is also treasurer and a director of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers. As one of APIL's recognised trainers, he also regularly writes articles and presents seminars, most recently on evidence in child abuse claims, acting for children, and the withdrawal of expert witnesses' immunity from suit.
