Sportswear-inspired collections have been seen on the runway and high street alike as we head into Spring/Summer 2012. Maybe it's a bit of Olympic fever but whatever the case the relaxed function focused collections are certainly a big trend.
I've spoken before about my collection with Earth Couture and what it means to me but I'm thrilled that my latest collection will be debuting this summer, just in time for the London Olympics for those wanting to embrace the sportswear trend through a fun collection of luxurious ethical materials.
Made with soft and stretchy jersey, elegant silk bourette and lyocell, these unique fabrics add definition to the body that is comfortable and flattering. The items are perfect for exercising, shopping, travelling, relaxing at home or for women on the move. The new collection features a rich black, deep navy blue, grey fleck and soft oatmeal colour scheme with accents of neon green and bright tangerine that really pop.
Neon was a bit of a departure for me... I'm the Queen of Taupe after all! I thought it was a fresh addition to the collection and would be a trend on the runways. Neon brights are everywhere this season so I'm glad my bold choice was right on the mark.
I love that fashion is embracing function this season embracing sportswear themes. My own collection has a bit of an "East Meets West" aesthetic which speaks to all the countries coming together in London this summer to celebrate sport and culture over 17 days. As a Londoner, I can't wait for the games to begin!
I've shared a few pictures from our recent photo shoot for the new collection on my Facebook page but there is also a great video giving you an up close and personal glimpse of the collection. http://youtu.be/cD_0pwdT5uE
