Android is a small platform with big intentions. Smartphones are the convenient avenue for Android's maturing into a future of all interconnected devices. We are all currently benefiting from it on our phones but it's also doing amazing things for wearable technology, portable radios, cars and appliances.

Each day we are getting closer to realising the full potential of Android and all the limitless possibilities it has to enhance the quality of our lives. Let's start with the wonderful tablets being launched from all corners of the world. The latest news is that Nintendo may be developing a tablet for the educational market and will be packed with fun learning games. After much furore and little follow up about TVs there seems to be a bit of rush in the direction of watches instead. Recently there have been a lot of kickstarter hopefuls such as TrueSmart allowing people to make calls, send and receive text messages along with the Neptune. But this is not to forget the more seasoned entries from Galaxy Gear, I'm watch and Sony which are all slowly maturing into something actually sellable / wearable.

Android as a varied small form factor OS is in its infancy and having fun with it. We are today witnessing the innovations of a world with affordable games consoles, Google glass, and smart TVs. Tomorrow's world of Android will help you navigate the slopes with Ski Goggles and the seven seas with swim goggles. Computerised shoes will check you in on foursquare while your socks track your steps. After so much activity you will of course be able to discuss with your fridge what you would like for dinner.

The limits of what Android is capable of doing is restricted only by the rate in which hardware evolves to allow it to exist on ever smaller form factors. Its inherit strength is in its firm business and open source foundations. Got an idea? With the right perseverance and vision you can extend and interface with everything Android.

What is certain is that a future with Android at the centre of everything is one that will run beautifully and efficiently - and with fewer gadgets, factories, and cables. Inevitably, the future of user interfaces will be no interface. Instead, the spoken word and the sound of our voices will activate and control devices.

Indeed, Android will vanish into the background and be part of every area of our daily lives. It will enable us to live well without seeing what's powering our efficiency, pleasures and industrial output.

Android is the one operating system to bind us all. It will eventually become invisible but it will definitely be everywhere.
