Is Society Beyond Reparable? Or Is It Just a Myth

Gang violence, street vandalism and judgemental teenagers. What's next? The list is endless, trust me. As a teen, I have witnessed bullying, self-harm and drug abuse from just people around me. Today's society is falling apart and our generation must get into gear before it is too late.

I don't want to sound all doom and gloom but I am only writing what I see when I walk out my front door. Even before that, I see through Facebook and Twitter feeds the amount of abuse people get from just putting their own views public. This just isn't right. We live in a 'free country' where everyone and anyone can say what they like. Stepping out the 'society's safe zone' is seen as inhuman and totally out of line. Looking different, not dressing as everyone else does or just trying something completely different is not cool according to 'everyone'. Well you know what, forget about it. Do what you want to do! You are your own person. You have endless opportunities and roads you can take, trust me!

Being a charity worker for my own organization the ESCA has helped me learn more about what life can offer and mainly taking risks, what many others dread to do. I don't care how people see me, nor should you.

Smile. Yes that's it. Think what you are going to do today? Go out with some friends; spend some time with the family, or invent the next most popular gadget out there. Do something! Like me, I had an idea, which was to swim the English Channel with my friends. I understand not everyone can do that, but I am sure you can come up with something.

So let us recap. Taking risks, which I have already mentioned, is good! Well not too risky, within reason guys. Spending time with your family I believe is top priority. Forgive yourself for the pointless arguments, turn over a new leaf and give you mum a big hug. Step out of your comfort zone, be yourself. Dress how you want to dress, whether that is the tightest skinny jeans or the baggiest tracksuit bottoms in the world! Do not be scared. Forget what people might say. In addition, if someone says something, move away from them, talk to someone else...maybe someone who is too wearing the 'tightest skinniest jeans in the world'

Amy Lee a good friend of mine says ''Being 'perfect' is something that is far too overrated, because it's something that doesn't exist. It's something that we all as individuals see in different people no matter what size, skin colour, hair colour...absolutely anything! Perfect is something that is seen in the eye of the beholder and to tell teens that there is just one look that is 'perfect' only pressures people more. This is why people feel so insecure all the time because they think they aren't good enough for society''

Gang violence, street vandalism and judgemental teenagers. What's next...? Well I hate to disappoint but there isn't a next, it should just stop. By the time you finish reading this sentence, think what you want to improve on in society, maybe take on something for charity...?
