Lucia Fry took up the post of Head of Policy at ActionAid UK in June 2012. Previously, she was Aid Policy Advisor there, having joined the organisation in September 2011, working on aid effectiveness and ending aid dependency. Prior to that, Lucia was Head of Policy at the Global Campaign for Education, where she supported a large coalition of teachers’ unions, NGOs and child rights organisations campaigning on the Education For All goals. Lucia’s career in development began at VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas), spending 3 years in Namibia as a secondary school teacher in the 1990s before taking up a post in VSO UK working on education policy. She has also worked for short periods for Plan UK and British Defence and Aid Fund for Southern Africa.
