Maura has worked at the BHF for 10 years and during her time at the charity she has developed an active policy team who are responsible for researching and writing BHF policy and responding to Government consultations. Maura’s team lobby governments across the UK and the European Parliament on a range of issues from improving Gift Aid to trying to improve public health measures. Her team also seek to inspire and involve the public in the charity’s campaigning work, which over recent years has managed to secure a change in the law banning cigarette vending machines, closing down a route for underage smokers to buy cigarettes without adult intervention.

Maura is passionate about equipping the nation with skills to save a life and is calling on governments across the UK to ensure every young person learns emergency life support skills at school.
