Michael Hart is a farmer, a family farms campaigner. He is Chair of the Small and Family Farms Alliance and national committee member of the Family Farmers Association. He works on art, rural culture and agriculture as part of the Rural Cultural Forum and campaigns to promote a better understanding of farming by the public. He has travelled to many countries to research farming issues. More specifically, for his work on GM, he has travelled to India, USA, South Africa and many European countries to meet with farmers who grow GM crops. As a result of his travels to the USA, he produced a film on GM crops from a farmer's point of view.
In the late 1990s while on a visit to the USA I saw my first GM crop - herbicide tolerant soybeans. As a farmer it was of great interest to see the latest agricultural technology being made available to US farmers.
