I have made much of the need to introduce people to the world of opera and part our effort to achieve this takes the form of the Opera Challenge, now in its third year. In essence...you come on a free ticket and then pay what you believe it is worth in the form if a donation to our Inspire project. Simple. We tend to run this scheme for our rarities. See below...

Opera Holland Park is, for the third year running, making 500 free tickets available under this scheme, challenging people to try opera for the first time or explore repertoire which may be new to them.

People who take up the 'Opera Challenge' are invited to make a donation to the Inspire scheme afterwards for whatever amount they feel is appropriate.

Tickets are being offered for three performances of a double bill of two operas: Puccini's ever-popular Gianni Schicchi with Alan Opie in the title role; and, this year's rarity, Mascagni's one act gem Zanetto starring international soprano Janice Watson, being performed in London for the first time in over 100 years.

'Opera Challenge' seats are being allocated for the following performances of the Mascagni/Puccini double-bill: 22 & 29 June; 6 July.

Anyone wishing to take up the challenge can call the box office on 0300 999 1000 and quote 'opera challenge'. Up to two tickets per person are available.
