When I wrote my end of year blog last December, in my infinite wisdom, I'm fairly sure I declared it the Year of News, impossible to surpass... However, if 2011 kept news editors across the world on their toes, I think it's fair to say 2012 certainly rose to the challenge. The difference this time? There were plenty of positives to report on, talk about and debate. And - joy, of joys - lots of it was happening on our doorstep.
2012 has certainly been an eventful year. For many in Britain, sporting glory will be the enduring memory of all that has passed. For others, it will be the spectacle of the Royal family, through times of both celebration and of controversy. For me, however, it is the continued apathy of the British population towards politics that has defined 2012.
In the words of Yakko Warner before he pulled out his Wheel O' Morality, "It's that time again". Yes, like so many X-Factor finalists 2012 is all but finished for good, and so all that's left is to look back at how things have developed over the year.

Harvey Nichols has just celebrated its 10th anniversary, Hayley Scanlan was name Scottish Young Designer of the Year 2012, and today, fashion designer extraordinaire, Karl Lagerfeld, brings CHANEL's Métiers d'Art 2012/13 show to the capital city, Edinburgh.
