Openly admitting to admiring Katie Price, redheaded bombshell Amy Childs seems to be following in the footsteps of the former glamour model when it comes to grabbing those column inches. Shooting to fame in ITV2’s reality hit The Only Way Is Essex, it’s her we have to thank for bringing the practice of ‘vajazzling’ to the great British public’s attention. A native of Brentwood, Essex, Amy was the pretty and popular head girl at school, but suffered from dyslexia and has confessed to not doing well in her GCSEs. The spray tan addict’s next move after leaving school was a natural one, as she opened a beauty salon in her own home, filling her nights by partying at Brentwood nightspot Sugar Hut, owned by then-boyfriend Kirk Norwood. After being picked to appear in TOWIE in 2010, Amy’s profile rocketed, and her penchant for all things vajazzle, warm heart and unwitting one-liners saw her become the break-out star of the show, as she split with Kirk. She racked up photo-shoots and personal appearances, and even grabbing a column with New! magazine. She soon began dating City broker Joe Hurlock, but they later split in 2011. After two series on TOWIE, the summer of 2011 saw Amy leave the show and enter the Celebrity Big Brother house. After coming fourth, she landed her own Channel 5 reality series as she opened up a new salon.
