Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, inventor and engineer. He painted Mona Lisa, the most famous portrait in the world, and The Last Supper, the most reproduced religious painting in the world. He produced early conceptualizations of a helicopter, a tank, concentrated solar power and a calculator. He was also history’s most remarkable polymath: an accomplished anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, architect and writer. He was born on 15 April 1452 and died 2 May 1519.
