Does Germaine know what Kate eats? No. Would she criticise William's weight in the same way? Probably not. Unfortunately, Germaine's "too thin" comment has overshadowed the thought-provoking points she makes in the Newsweek article, where she discusses Kate's complex role as a woman, mother and wife within the Royal Family.

Why I Fear Australia Is Becoming a Zombie Nation

Professor Damien Ridge | Posted 24.06.2014 | UK Universities & Education
Professor Damien Ridge

For the most (white) privileged of lands, Australia, the price of rejecting authentic stories about itself - like how central aboriginality really is to the national consciousness - is a superficiality, and a strange boredom that fills the spaces where there should be meaning.

Reluctant Feminist

I'm not sure if there is a cultural shift where it's ok to be demeaning to women or if it's just easier to access now. What I do know is that it is completely unacceptable. Now I'm far from a reluctant feminist. I'm a strident one.

Warts and All: Porn and Young People

B.J. Epstein

We can use pornographic pictures and films as educational tools in classrooms. And we can also make better, more realistic ones, so that young people (and, of course, older people) have a chance to learn about sex in a way that's more authentic.

Becoming a Radical Feminist: On Male Violence, Cultural Femicide and Sisterhood

Louise Pennington

The older I get, the more I believe that 'equality' is nothing more than a smokescreen to prevent the true liberation of women. Equality before the law means nothing when violence is endemic; when women are most likely to live in poverty; when no one bothers to actually enforce the existing equality legislation.

What Does Modern Day Feminism Mean?

Christina Sweeney-Baird | Posted 22.06.2013 | UK Universities & Education
Christina Sweeney-Baird

The fact is that there is a dearth of women, at all levels of society, willing to go ahead and define themselves as feminists. Why is feminism seen by many as, at best, unnecessary, and at worst, terrifying? At its core feminism is simply the belief that all women should be treated equally. No controversy there for a rational human being. So where is the problem?

Reclaiming the C**t

What baffles me is where are the people who should be standing up asking why in this day and age we still rate people based on their looks? Being a feminist isn't about tasting your period, not shaving or hating men. Being a feminist (for me) is realising that you are beautiful, smart and interesting enough and don't need the media to tell you other wise. Being a feminist (again, for me), is about having that confidence to be the best woman you can be, and not hiding behind your vagina, but instead reclaiming your c**t.

Are Women Bored Of Vaginas?

Ashley Hames | Posted 07.11.2012 | Home

Calling it Vagina is obviously designed for maximum shock value. C**t would have been far more effective, but that's America for you. Still some distance to go. I have to ask though, am I the only one that's bored rigid by feminists banging on about their vaginas?

Oh no, Bercow

Of late Sally Bercow has been attempting a backwards Lembit Opik: whilst the path from politician to media personality is a well-trodden one, it seems harder to perform the reverse.

How to Be a Woman - Book Review

I often think to myself that it would have been so much simpler to have lived in a time when women didn't have as many choices as they do now. "Spoiled for choice" is not a phrase to take lightly.
