hoverboard

France's 'Flying Man' broke down in tears after succeeding in his attempt to cross the English Channel on a jet-powered hoverboard on Sunday (August 4).Zapata, who fell into the sea during his previous bid in July, took off at about 0617GMT from Sangatte, just outside Calais in France, on a little platform powered by five small jet engines while carrying kerosene in a backpack.
A French inventor has attempted to cross the English channel on a jet-powered hoverboard. Franky Zapata took off exactly 110 years after the first plane flew across the channel, but his endeavour was scuppered when he was knocked into the sea attempting to land on his refuelling station. Zapata says he hopes to try again soon, and also plans to add a flying car to his inventions by the end of the year.
The manufacturer claims the Flyboard Air can fly at a height of 3,000 metres.
'My first thought...why on earth would you try this on concrete.'
