On Thursday the Metropolitan Police got back in touch regarding the News of the World hacking saga. The next stage for me is travelling to see them at the end of the week. So far all the information I've been told is the numbers found on the notebook of some 'journalist', and subsequently recognised as being mine, along with a postcode, which I also recognised as mine! So, James Murdoch was "disingenuous" during this week's select committee hearing into The News of the World phone hacking saga. We probably could have predicted that outcome in advance of the event; what would have been more difficult to predict was that an investigation into journalistic (mal)practice could turn so quickly into an argument about female MPs' working hours. I don't actually care whether Louise Mensch's actions were 'display parenting' or 'parental grandstanding', rather than just articulating the basic facts, as some have suggested. However, I do care that she has highlighted the reality of having a demanding career and balancing a family at the same time. And I speak as someone who doesn't even have children.
